I am impressed by the solid construction of this stove and it is fairly robust to pack away and carry. Seems to deal with wind and rain.

With my small camping cooking set far too much heat lost to the wind but after buying larger cookware the cooking was much better.

The only gripes are the small gas bottles which only last about an hour and the strange connection via a rigid aluminimum pipe so the cylinder always dangles from my cooker stand.

Managed to go through four gas cylinders in a week, so running it is expensive. And couldn’t get any replacement cylinders.

So if I can work out how to connect it via a flexible hose to a larger cylinder it will be excelent. Until then I’ll have carry a lot of expensive spare cylinders or use another stove.

I spent a while trying to work out which stove was best to buy and took a chance on this one. It folds down neatly, transports easily, is cheap and the piezo lighter was great (until one of the two on this stove stopped working after a couple of days). The wind shield is effective and it boils water quickly.

So we were pleased with it… but beware that the gas runs out quickly. After 5 days camping (2 adults and 3 kids) we got through 2 propane canisters… and couldn’t find any replacements. Coleman propane is hard to find.

The canister has to be tilted at about 45 degrees to work properly, so caution if your set up doesn’t have enough space for the gas to sit behind the cooker (as per image).

Campingaz stoves may be flimsy and naff but at least you can always stock up on fuel. Don’t think I would recommend this stove because we now need to ensure we have enough gas on board before any trip.
